In Memoriam

Stewart Sehn

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Stewart "Stu" Sehn passed away.
Stu was one of the founding members of Community Park Little League and dedicated countless hours to the growth and success of baseball within our community. For more than 20 years, he served as Community Park's Umpire-in-Chief, mentoring young umpires, supporting players and coaches, and helping shape the values that Community Park Little League is known for today.
Stu's commitment to umpiring and Little League baseball extended well beyond our local community.

Throughout his years of service, he was selected to officiate at several prestigious events, including:
     Big League Canadian Championship
     Majors Canadian Championship
     Seniors Canadian Championship
     Alberta Summer Games

Stu also attended the Little League Instructional School in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, demonstrating his dedication to learning, leadership, and the development of youth baseball.

While his accomplishments on the field were impressive, those who knew Stewart will remember him most for his willingness to help others, his love of the game, and his commitment to the baseball community. He was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to many.

We would also like to recognize Stewart's wife, Sandy, who has been an important part of the Little League family over the years. Together, Stewart and Sandy dedicated countless volunteer hours to supporting players, families, coaches, and fellow volunteers. Their contributions helped build the strong and welcoming community that Community Park Little League is today.

Stewart will be deeply missed by all of us throughout Alberta District 2, but especially by the Community Park family, where he played such a significant role for so many years. His legacy will live on through the players he inspired, the umpires he mentored, and the community he helped build.

On behalf of Alberta District 2 Little League, we extend our sincere condolences to Sandy, their family, and all those who had the privilege of knowing Stewart.

Thank you, Stewart, for your dedication, friendship, and service to the game we all love. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Garry Soon

Edmonton District 2 has lost a member of our Little League family.  On October 28, 2020 Garry Soon passed away at the age of 72.  For more than 35 years, Garry served as a dedicated umpire for all ages of aspiring baseball athletes in the Edmonton region, and Province of Alberta.  He was a consummate professional, mentor, and kind hearted role model for many umpires and community volunteers.  Garry’s unmistakable connection with the countless players who love the game, as well as the many good friends and colleagues he served with admirably, will be remembered for generations.  We offer our deepest sympathies to his family.  We would like to sincerely thank Garry and his family for their time and commitment towards making baseball a sport everyone can enjoy!

FOGG, Elroy (Roy)
March 26, 1925 - October 2, 2020

With much love and gratitude for a long life well lived Roy's family sadly announces his passing on October 2, 2020 at the age of 95. He will be forever loved and so deeply missed by his children: Lynda (Dave), Bruce (Lorna), Gordon (Norma) and Susan (Mark); grandchildren: Barbara, Debra (Ignacio), and Nathan; Lindsay, Malina, Brandi (Dwayne), Farrah (passed); great-grandchildren: Grayson, Wren, Liam, Sianna, Mercades and Dreya; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended families in Winnipeg and Ontario. Roy was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Doraine, parents Walter and Elizabeth Fogg, sisters Irene and Grace, and brothers Russell, Walter and Ron. Roy's family meant everything to him. He attended every activity and special event and loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas or birthdays. He was always interested in everything we were doing and supported all of us in immeasurable ways. Roy was like that with his friends as well. The bonds he forged lasted many years and spoke to his kindness, generosity, and the genuine care and concern he had for those dear to him. We will miss his quiet strength, witty humour, little giggle, twinkling eyes, and above all his unending love. Special thanks to the staff at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre. Due to current restrictions, a private service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 8424-95 Avenue, Edmonton, AB. For those wishing to join us virtually, a live stream will be available live at stlukesanglicanchurch.org and can also be viewed at a later date. To view click the [Watch Live] box. The family requests that there be no flowers, instead, donations could be made to the charity of your choice.
